It is tired of chasing Campbell Park Estate owners for money owed, a Waimate irrigation company says.

Kirk Irrigation Ltd director Stan Shieffelbien told the Otago Daily Times NZHouseChina company representatives were ignoring his emails and phone calls.

He was concerned his company would be left out of pocket for the work it had completed at the Otekaieke site, he said.

NZHouseChina, an Auckland company with strong links to China, bought the property in February.

When contacted last week a company representative declined to comment.

Earlier this year, the company's general manager, Rene Bros, said the company had a ''million ideas'' for the development of the site.

Mr Shieffelbein said he understood there were up to four contractors employed to undertake work at the site who were owed money.

One of those companies is Waimate's Aviemore Irrigation Co Ltd.

Its operations manager, Deborah Kibble, said her company shared similar concerns to those of Kirk Irrigation.

Mr Shieffelbein said his company was asked to supply a comprehensive and itemised quote for the amount of work they did and that was accepted by NZHouseChina.

''They're now complaining that they need to look into what work was okayed to be done, but they accepted our quotation. It was accepted.

''We've done the work. We completed it some weeks ago. Then we presented our invoices to them. They're now overdue and we're just been fed all sorts of stories [as] to why we're not getting paid.''

The standout excuse, he said, was that the company was having difficulties getting large amounts of money out of China to pay their contractors, Mr Shieffelbein said.

''Which is odd because they claim it's a fully owned New Zealand company.

''So I spoke to Rene [Bros] and then also spoke to a woman in Shanghai ... she handles their legal issues, so I spoke to her, and she was the one who told me they can't get money out of China willy-nilly.''

He said his company sent two invoices; one was overdue by a month and one was due yesterday.

All he wanted from the company was communication and to be paid.

He said his workers were on site for six to eight weeks this year.

Kirk Irrigation Ltd was approached by Campbell Park to carry out a major upgrade and filtration to the potable water supply for the entire complex. Aviemore Irrigation Co Ltd was contracted to do general earthmoving on site.
