The Forrester Gallery and Mahika Kai Mahika Toi are inviting exhibition proposals for the 2027 programme.
Forrester Gallery and Mahika Kai Mahika Toi curator Anna McLean said they were "seeking engaging and experimental kā mahi toi that reflect our diverse arts ecology in te rohe o Waitaki".
"We have hosted a variety of exhibitions that have provided a necessary platform for local artists to work within a regional public art gallery environment, creating a stepping stone for added opportunities within the arts sector."
Two categories for entry are available, "community" and "general".
"The community gallery programme allows early career artists living locally to develop and exhibit their work in a regional public art gallery.
This programme provides a unique opportunity to develop an exhibition for our Kakī gallery, Miss McLean said.
"If successful, your exhibition will run for around eight weeks with the added option of public programming and events throughout its duration.
"The general callout is open to anyone wanting to exhibit either individually or within a group, in our ground-floor Tarapirohe side gallery in 2027."
Miss McLean said the callout was "not coming from a shortage of content but the main reason to go to this model was to make it more accessible and inclusive".
People can apply to both categories if they live in the Waitaki district, or the general callout if they live outside of the district, she said.
Miss McLean said the application process "should be simple for artists to apply".
"Most of the criteria options are optional in either category and the main thing we require is an outline of your intended project or exhibition in approximately 500 words, or if you struggle with writing or prefer to do something visually you can enter an audio outline of a maximum of five minutes."
"We are looking to do this callout twice a year, with different gallery options for each application but all for the year-ahead exhibition programme," she said.
