Two women were taken to Oamaru Hospital to be checked after a car collided with a freight train in Oamaru yesterday.

The collision happened shortly before 2pm at the railway crossing on Foyle St. The women were travelling east, in a Toyota Corolla, when the car hit the southbound train.
Police would be investigating how the crash occurred, Acting Sgt Dowling said.
