A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said two fire appliances from the Oamaru Volunteer Fire Brigade were called to an Ardgowan Rd address about 8.15am after the boy's head became lodged in the door's frame.
He was freed a short time later and was not injured, the spokesman said.
