The annual East Otago High School Careers expo this week attracted a record 32 exhibitors and was attended by more than 200 pupils, parents and members of the community.

Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean (above) opens the expo, stressing the importance of career choices and training.

East Otago High School principal Lennox Sharp said tertiary education providers included the University of Otago and several polytechnics. Employers include representatives from Oceana Gold, the Alliance freezing works, the police and the defence forces.

Mr Sharp said the expo was timed to allow senior high school pupils to attend with their parents, but other adults in the East Otago community considering tertiary education or career change could also attend.
