An East Otago High School team waited until the last round before winning an Otago-wide history competition this week.

The team, Issac Williamson, Kieran Ireland and Michael Lister (all aged 17), beat Otago Boys' High School and Logan Park High School in the 2012 Otago History Teachers Association's annual year 12/13 history competition. The competition, which attracted 19 teams, was extremely close and only decided in the final round when the EOHS team moved from third place to first.

It was a great recovery by the Palmerston team, which had misunderstood the music round and consequently scored just one out of 10.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
