Mine tours may resume

Train and road tours for public viewing of the Oceana Gold mine at Macraes might resume for next summer.

Taieri Gorge Railway marketing and development manager Toby Mann told the Palmerston Business Group this week the tours,

formerly operated by Oceana Gold, connected with trains at Palmerston and returned to Dunedin via the Taieri Gorge railway.

They ceased in August, but resumption was being considered.

The Seasider trains will resume running to Palmerston in October.

Mr Mann said the service was likely to run mostly on Sundays.
