How much bunting do you need to decorate Tyne St in Oamaru? Organisers of the town's Victorian heritage celebrations now know - about 1km of it.

Yesterday, suitably attired in Victorian costumes, they used a modern measuring wheel to zigzag their way down Tyne St and measure it.

They wanted to order new bunting to decorate Tyne St for this year's Victorian heritage celebrations in Oamaru from November 12 to 16.

Organisers already have bunting, but only enough to use sparingly in Harbour and part of Tyne Sts.

They want to use the existing bunting to zig-zag Harbour St and are now ordering enough to do the same on Tyne St, adding to the atmosphere of the celebrations, this year with the appropriate theme of "Victorian Wheel".

An order will be placed with an Oamaru manufacturer.
