Nurses honoured

Nurses who trained or worked at Oamaru Hospital and served New Zealand in wars overseas have finally been recognised, with a plaque unveiled on Monday.

The unveiling, by Wensley Dimick, who served many years at the "hospital on the hill" as Sister Turvey, was attended by 35 nurses and former nurses from the hospital.

The plaque says: "In remembrance of the nurses of Oamaru Hospital who served New Zealand in overseas conflicts.

"We honour them."
