Helping to move furniture into their newly completed Modern Learning Centres at East Otago High School this week are years 7 and 8 pupils (from left) Brook Holt (11), Rachel Sheat (11), Brodie Thom (11), Lucy Shea (11), Nakita Allan (11) and Manaseh Hunter (10).

The two centres and associated resource rooms, built at a cost of more than $1 million, were outstanding and provided an excellent learning environment for pupils, school principal Lennox Sharp said.

The contractors, Amalgamated Builders, of Dunedin, began work over the Christmas holidays and the centres were completed by the beginning of term two.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
