Swingalongs last swing

A special dance will celebrate the memory of North Otago identities Colin Dorsey and Dorrie Hunter.

Tickets are on sale for the Swingalongs' memorial old-time dance at the Oamaru Club on May 2.

Proceeds will go to the Oamaru Hospital community-care facility.

Mr Dorsey, who died in February aged 70, and Mrs Hunter, who died in March last year aged 65, were both members of the Swingalongs, North Otago's only remaining dance band.

Mr Grant said it would be a nostalgic night for the Swingalongs, now seven musicians.

It would also be the last time the musicians played together as the Swingalongs.

The dance is a Waiareka Valley Lions Club project.
