A 43-year-old man has been charged with careless use of a motor vehicle following a truck crash on the Lindis Pass last month which blocked State Highway 8 for most of the day.
The Mainfreight truck and trailer unit was carting freight from Christchurch to Cromwell when it crashed at Dip Creek, about 10km south of the summit, on November 5.
State Highway 8 was closed from 3am to 6pm and a large team of professional and volunteer personnel worked to clear the road.
Their commitment and hard work were a credit to the agencies involved, Constable Maude O'Connell said yesterday.
