Vehicle's windows shot out in Oamaru

Police are investigating after a vehicle was shot at in the South Hill area of Oamaru.

Sergeant Blair Wilkinson, of Oamaru, said police were alerted to the sound of gunshots in Tyne St about 6.20am yesterday.

When officers arrived, a blue station wagon parked outside a residential property was found to have had its windows shot out.

He said the incident did not appear to be random, and that there was no reason for members of the public to be fearful for their safety.

Inquiries are continuing.
