Warning follows crashes

Another crash on State Highway 1 near Moeraki has prompted police to issue a reminder that  motorists should drive with care.

On Wednesday, a southbound vehicle crashed into a bank near the Moeraki Boulders turnoff about 5.15pm.

Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said the male driver  was treated by ambulance staff at the scene.

"It’s another crash on a stretch of SH1 that is becoming notorious as a high crash area."

Later on Wednesday, about 11.30pm, a van crashed into a milk tanker as it pulled into Fonterra’s Studholme milk plant, on State Highway 1, near the Waimate turnoff.

Sergeant Kevin Reynolds, of Waimate, said both vehicles were travelling in the same direction.

Both drivers were male and New Zealand citizens, he said.

Neither of them was injured.

At 7am yesterday a single vehicle crashed at the intersection of Airedale Rd and Turfus Camp Rd at Weston.

Police said the driver of a southbound vehicle lost control and hit a bank, causing the vehicle to roll before it ended up back on its wheels.

The female driver was taken to Oamaru Hospital with minor injuries.

Police inquiries into the crashes were ongoing.
