Four-time women’s motocross world champion Courtney Duncan visited Oamaru yesterday.

The 27-year-old Palmerston native returned to the Waitaki for a meet-and-greet with the public.

She spoke about her experiences on the world circuit and then answered questions from the crowd of about 50 who came out to see her.

It was really pleasing for her to see such a good turnout, she said.

"There was a good showing of kids and even adults here. It’s always nice to know that I’ve got a lot of support behind me and [I am] glad I could make the trip up."

She loved being able to return to the district.

"It’s always special coming home.

"I was raised about 45 minutes south [of Oamaru], went to school there and it’s only been since my pro career that I haven’t been based there. It’s always nice to come back."
