Lincoln University student Peter Klaassen has won the first World Young Shepherd Challenge.
The two-day competition in Oamaru last week attracted 22 young shepherds from 11 countries.
Mr Klaassen is studying for a master's degree in commerce (agricultural). He won a trophy and a $15,000 international professional development scholarship.
Philip Derryman, of England, was second, and Lachlan Charlton, of Australia, third.
Mr Derryman and Alistair Graham were named the winning team.
