Luxury hotel Eichardt's confirmed yesterday it would take the penthouse apartment in a yet-to-be-built $6 million development next door in Marine Parade.
Guests will be charged $10,000 per night - believed to be New Zealand's most expensive hotel suite.
Demand from ''ultra-high net worth'' visitors means Eichardt's owner, Imperium, will take two further suites in Skyline Enterprises' neighbouring building.
The 240sq m penthouse suite, with 100sq m balcony, features a commercial grade kitchen for use by private chefs, two suites with en suites, a sauna, spa and powder room.
A $10,000-a-night fee is eye-watering even by Queenstown's standards.
A ''chalet stateroom double'' room at Blanket Bay, where actor Sir Ian McKellen and the late comic Robin Williams stayed, costs almost $3400 per couple a night in peak season.
Deluxe suites at Matakauri Lodge - a favourite of web entrepreneur Kim Dotcom - can costs $2550 a night.
A lodge suite at Taupo's exclusive Huka Lodge, meanwhile, can cost $3865 a night.
Eichardt's - owned by Imperium Capital Group's Andrew Cox - already charges $1950 a night for lake-view suites.
Mr Cox said in a statement: ''They [rich guests] choose Queenstown because it offers them what money can't buy - a unique experience to share with their networks that melds understated luxury, safety, food, wine and activities that no other destination in the world can compete with.''
Private jet landings at Queenstown airport have soared from 180 in 2013 to 239 last year - including American pop star Katy Perry's in December.
But the Corporate Jet Services terminal at Queenstown airport has reached capacity and some pilots are being asked to ''drop and go'' at busy times.
