Wakatipu High School's gymnasium is set to be furnished with a new electronic scoreboard, thanks to $5755.80 raised through bucket donations and volunteer work during the weekend's Gibbston Valley Winery Summer Concert.

Celebrating reaching their fundraising goal are (from left) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) secretary Lyndel Hardy, Alpine Entertainment director and concert organiser Amanda Calvert, PTA president Alyssandra Skerritt, and school pupil and concert helper Jade Hardy (17).

The new scoreboard will mean the school's gymnasium is eligible to hold official sporting showdowns, and Mrs Skerritt said the PTA was grateful for such a "fantastic fundraising opportunity".

"When they [Alpine Entertainment] come here it has a huge positive effect on our entire school."

Ms Calvert said it was the second time the school had been involved with the annual concert after it raised $4000 for a school automotive project last year.

She hoped to have the school participate next year.
