Drivers behave

Wanaka police have reported a relatively trouble-free weekend despite the large number of people who were in town for the Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow.

Sub-area commander Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell said police targeting drink-drivers made just one arrest in Wanaka on Saturday night.

Police also made two arrests for possession of cannabis and two for intoxication - one on Friday and one on Saturday.

The resort's bars appeared to have all complied with the Easter alcohol laws, Snr Sgt Grindell said.

''So overall it's been a very good weekend.''

• Police also attended a minor car versus motorbike accident at the Gates of Haast bridge, on the Haast Pass highway, shortly after 10am yesterday.

There were no injuries.
