A decision was expected yesterday from Queenstown Lakes commissioners Jane Taylor and Christine Kelly, who have deliberated since a resource consent hearing was held in October.
Gondola parent company One Black Merino director John Lee told the Otago Daily Times yesterday he and his son, Sam, had agreed to a seven-page list of conditions expected to pave the way for the gondola's approval.
QLDC spokeswoman Meaghan Miller said the council's planning and regulatory agent, Lakes Environmental (LE), would publicly release the decision, but this was not likely until tomorrow.
LE resource consent process manager Rachel Beer said the Lees were working with the commission on the recommended conditions and had confirmed their satisfaction with the draft yesterday afternoon.
The decision would be issued accordingly, Ms Beer said.
The ODT was unable to ascertain why the decision had been delayed further after inquiries to LE and the QLDC.
Commission chairwoman Mrs Taylor could not be contacted.
Mr Lee said the list of commission conditions they had agreed to were "almost the exact same" as those offered at the conclusion of their resource consent hearing.
LE planning manager Brian Fitzpatrick said when applicants agreed to a list of commission conditions it generally signalled an intention to grant consent, but this could be denied on appeal to the Environment Court.
"It is reasonable to infer there is probably nothing which is likely to result in consent being denied," Mr Fitzpatrick said.
