Annabelle Jones had originally planned to compete in Milton on Saturday, but instead the pony rider was learning from an Olympic, world and national champion rider in Queenstown.

Vaughn Jefferis, who is based in Cambridge, is a two time-world champion (in 1994 and 1998), an Olympic Bronze medallist at the 1996 Games in Atlanta and five-times national champion.

Jefferis (52) was in Queenstown during the weekend at the request of the Queenstown equestrian community to run showjumping coaching clinics which Annabelle attended ahead of next month's Lake Hayes A and P Show.

The Lake Hayes event is the next show at which she planned to compete with her pony Cooper.

Cooper was a young pony, she explained, and the clinic was to help him learn how to jump.
