Wellington drum 'n' bass duo the Upbeats make a welcome return to Subculture on Saturday, June 4.

Professional DJs and producers Jeremy Glenn and Dylan Jones, both of Wellington, run their own recording imprint, Non Vogue, and released their third album, Big Skeleton, in 2009. Last year saw them tour internationally and remix for New Zealand acts such as Shapeshifter, Minuit and Tiki Taane.

They have also branched out into dubstep, as Crushington.

Presale tickets will be available next week from Subculture, Quest and Dash Tickets online. Tickets will cost $20 at the door.

7pm: Vanessa Kelly and Les Richardson perform in Les Alpes restaurant. Free.
10pm: Sunshine Sound System, with DJs Downtown Brown and Turbohag, play at Subculture. Free entry before midnight, $5 afterwards.

TOMORROW
10pm: DJs Skutch, Turbohag, DtB, D-Jade and more present dubstep and drum 'n' bass in Subsonic, at Subculture. Free entry before midnight, $5 afterwards.

TUESDAY
8.30pm: Federico Fellini's classic Nights of Cabiria (1957) opens the 2011 season for the Queenstown Film Society in Dorothy Brown's Cinema and Bar in Arrowtown. Membership costs $105 a year, half-year membership of 12 consecutive films costs $60 and three-film sampler tickets cost $30. New members can join on any night.

WEDNESDAY
7.30pm: Taxi Trio (Jaime Reylton, Greg Alpine and Matt Wilson) play jazz in Barmuda. Free.

THURSDAY
• Manhunt drama Tracker, starring Ray Winstone, Temuera Morrison and the rugged landscape of the Wakatipu, opens in Reading Cinemas, Queenstown Mall. The British-New Zealand co-production was shot on location at Moke Lake, Rees Valley, Nevis Valley, Kawarau River, Queenstown Hill and Glenorchy, in November 2009.
