Himalayan Experience guide Mark Woodward, who has climbed Everest eight times, is safe and well along with fellow Independent Mountain Guides Bruce Hasler, Richie Hunter, Michael Madden - who also works for Himex - Jono Gillan, of Adventure Consultants, and helicopter pilot Jason Laing.
Independent Mountain Guides owner operator Dave Macleod, of Queenstown, said communication was difficult with the group but he had received confirmation via satellite phone text messages they were all OK.
''Obviously, they're very devastated by the event ... it's an absolute disaster for Nepal, for anyone that's over there.''
Mr Macleod said the guides remained at base camp and were helping with the ''clean up'', and body recovery and assisting the injured.
Mr Laing has been flying trapped climbers and their Sherpa guides out of camps one and two and recovering bodies from the mountain.

Mr Laing was working for Nepali airline Simrik Air when the quake struck.
Mr Laing told Radio New Zealand yesterday entire villages were destroyed in the quake.

On Saturday a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal triggered a massive avalanche that swept through the base camp, killing at least 18 and injuring dozens of people.
Mr Macleod said once base camp had been ''cleaned up'' the group would begin walking down the valley, which had been affected by landslips, before being evacuated by helicopter.
A Wanaka guiding company's team has been rescued by helicopter from the Western Cwm on Mt Everest. Adventure Consultants said now its team had arrived from camp one, it would walk down to Lukla, a three day trip.
