A "sold" sticker has gone on two holiday cottages below Frankton Rd.
A member of a family that has just sold two prominently located longtime Queenstown holiday homes says his feelings are "a mixture of sadness and pleasure that the sale has gone well".
The sale, for an undisclosed sum, marks the end of the Warrington family’s seven-decades-long association with Sugar Lane land by the Frankton marina.
The first wooden holiday home was built about 1957 and the second, a Lockwood design with a stone cladding, was added about 1988.
The two sections combined have a capital valuation of $6,725,000.
Donald Warrington said they had received earlier inquiries about selling up, but had now decided to put their sites on the market due to their high land value.
He understood the buyer was a developer — "that is what one would expect to happen with the site in its current surroundings".
He said his family had yet to discuss their options, which could include buying a smaller Queenstown holiday home.
