Mr Goldman first joined Mactodd on its summer studentship programme, and after graduating from Victoria University with an LLB, returned to Queenstown in 2004 to take up a permanent position with the firm.
He also obtained a BA from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1999.
Mr Goldman said he enjoyed the opportunities and benefits Queenstown offered as an "international community".
He had experience in the sale and purchase of businesses and property, including Overseas Investment Office applications for property purchase in New Zealand, and had worked in all aspects of immigration, with specific experience providing advice for New Zealand employers recruiting overseas staff and organising business visas.
"It is certainly an honour . . . and I am delighted to receive recognition from the partners for my commitment to the Queenstown community."
Mactodd partner John Troon welcomed Mr Goldman's appointment, which he said recognised his standing within the firm.
"During his time at Mactodd, Elliot has performed to a high standard and his interaction with the firm's new and existing clients provides them with high quality advice and service.
"It is a pleasure to have Elliot on board as part of our team."
Mr Goldman is a keen skier and had previously worked in the United States and in New Zealand as a ski instructor.
He is a member of the Queenstown Ice Hockey Club and the Queenstown Golf Club.
