Kelvin Heights residents now have a convenient way of picking up their milk, bread, Otago Daily Times and more besides, with the opening of a lakeside deli grocery and cafe at Kawarau Village.

Hilton Queenstown, within Kawarau Falls Station, announced the opening of the Lake Counter this week.

Open seven days a week, from 7am to 7pm, the cafe will serve pastries and muffins baked fresh daily by Hilton chefs. The cafe will also serve fresh sandwiches, soups and sweet creations from Wakatipu Grill pastry chef Brian Campbell, who has pedigree gained from some of the United Kingdom's finest Relais & Chateaux properties and Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain.

Fresh local meats and produce and Central Otago wines will be on offer, as well as specialty food items and personal-care items.

The Lake Counter is located on the Wakatipu Steps in the village, which also incorporates Hilton Queenstown, Kawarau Hotel, Wakatipu Grill, Stacks Pub, Me & Mee Noodle Bar and the Spa at Hilton.
