A welcome snowfall was predicted this week, just in time for the first session of the Slopestyle Series at The Remarkables, on Sunday.
Now in its 11th year, the series will take place at the Terrain Park, with the next three events being held on August 15, and September 5 and 19.
"The Slopestyle Series is an excellent event as the series format enables skiers and riders to recognise their own development throughout the season," ski area manager Ross Lawrence said"Competitors come from all over the region to compete.
"It gives all levels of skiers and riders the chance to test themselves in the big park and individual cash prizes will be awarded at each event for first, second and third placed competitors within each category."
The series would give younger competitors the chance to better themselves and see where they "stack up", with support from the Parklife team, which is also involved in the events, Mr Lawrence said.
Live music and an MC would also be on hand to create a "buzzing atmosphere".
The $25 entry fee would be pooled for cash prizes each session, with an overall prize handed out after the final session on September 19.
There will be separate classes for open men and women, and junior men and women in both ski and snowboard, and spot prizes will also be awarded throughout the series.
Registration is from 8.30am to 10am at The Remarkables Guest Services, and the competition starts at 10.30am.
Mr Lawrence said there was also a $20 bib deposit and helmets were mandatory for all competitors.
