Pre-emptive strike on pine

Queenstown Lakes District Council communications manager Meaghan Miller said a pine tree was removed from its site on the corner of Malaghans Rd and Berkshire St on Wednesday because it was "deemed to be unsafe" and could fall.

The Arrowtown community had been consulted before the ageing tree was removed, which coincided with the Berkshire St upgrade, due to be completed in January, she said.
