Resurfacing work set to start on Monday

From Monday, the New Zealand Transport Agency will begin a $400,000 resurfacing programme focusing on sections of State Highway 6A, which caters to about 15,000 vehicles a day.

NZTA area manager John Jarvis said the work would involve repairs and asphalt resurfacing on Stanley St, between the bottom of the Ballarat St hill and Shotover St, including the two roundabouts, along with a small section of Memorial St.

Part of the work includes asphalting the Goldfield Heights and Hensman Rd intersections on Frankton Rd.

Neither was done as part of the resurfacing work along Frankton Rd last year because they required "a more durable asphalt surface".

"The contractors will start work in Stanley St from [Monday] and at Goldfield Heights from November 12. The entire job, which is needed to replace worn sections of paving, should be completed by December 7," Mr Jarvis said.

The work would begin with milling off the existing surface and replacing it with asphalt.

Pavement repairs would be done at the same time, he said.

"Every effort is being made to minimise disruptions for road users.

"To help with this, some work may be done at night to reduce delays during busy day time traffic periods."
