Seven state-of-the-art Kassbohrer Pisten Bully 600 and 400 series snow groomers, valued at $550,000 each, are on their way to NZSki's slopes.

The machines, from the German company, are due to arrive in May at Coronet Peak, Mt Hutt and the Remarkables.

NZSki chief executive James Coddington said the groomers would complement the existing snow-making operations at all three mountains.

The addition of a Kassbohrer PB600w and two PB400 machines at Mt Hutt meant the ski area would have New Zealand's most modern and extensive grooming fleet.

Coronet Peak would receive a PB600w and a PB600, while the Remarkables would get two PB400w machines.

Each of the ski areas would get at least one winch cat, allowing grooming to take place on steeper pitches across the mountains and delivering a corduroy experience to more advanced skiers and riders.

The machine deal included specialist terrain park building equipment, meaning ski areas could improve they way they built terrain parks.
