This Saturday, some of Queenstown's fittest, fastest and and most motivated residents will compete in a 13km uphill slog, raising money for Daffodil Day.

The annual Remarks Road Run will involve endurance athletes - and those keen on challenging themselves for a good cause - lining up at the bottom of the Remarkables Access Rd and racing to the top either individually or in teams of up to three people.

Three separate categories would cater to every ability - from ''advanced'', the full 13km run; ''intermediate'', the last 5.5km stretch; to ''beginner'', the final kilometre only.

NZSki brand marketing manager Katrina Priest said the advanced category would leave from the Remarkables car park, at the bottom of the access road, at 11.30am. The 5.5km run would start from 7.5km up the skifield road and the 1km run would begin at the 12km mark.

Those who entered in teams would tag their team-mates in at the 7.5km and 12km marks.

The finishing line for all of the three categories would be at the top car park.

Rather than paying an entry fee, each participant has been asked to provide a minimum $20 donation to the Cancer Society and they had the option of finding sponsors to support them.

As it was a charity event, time measurement was not official. However, there would be prizes for runners who collected the most money.

• Entries will be accepted until Saturday, with entry forms available by emailing katrinap@nzski.com.
