Youth Week activities emphasise relationships

A girls-only drop-in session, a father-and-son table tennis tournament and a concert by school bands for the public are among the exciting events happening in Youth Week, which begins today.

X-it Youth Centre and Summit Youth Workers have joined forces with Wakatipu High School to organise a host of Queenstown activities as part of the national drive to raise awareness and appreciation of people aged 12 to 24.

X-it youth worker Fi Sawers said this week's emphasis was on relationships, with a special focus on quality interactions between young people and their elders.

"Young people in this town are really awesome and it's about reminding the parents and caregivers in their lives to spend more time with them."
