Colourful event raises $4000

Kingsview School pupils enjoyed the rare chance to cover their principal in coloured powder yesterday.

The Queenstown schoolchildren raised more than $4000 for education outside the classroom, earning them the opportunity to cover principal Mike Stanley with the colours of the rainbow during a colour run at the Frankton Recreation Reserve.

"It’s great to get the children outside," teacher and event organiser Isabel Stanley said.

"Today has been a great success."

Police officers and firefighters were on hand to help out, spraying a water slide with a fire hose and shooting children with Nerf guns as they ran around the obstacle course.

One pupil managed to raise more than $400 on his own.

Most of the money raised would be spent on outdoor education, with a large chunk going towards prizes handed out to pupils after the run.
