Cup & Cake owner Jaimie Stodler (left), of Queenstown, her son Oran McNicholas (6) and staff members Danielle St Pierre and Josie Geimecke with some of the animal-themed cupcakes and cookies sold to raise funds for the SPCA yesterday.

Ms Stodler said it was the fifth year she had been involved in raising money for the SPCA during its annual Cupcake Day and had, to date, raised ``thousands''.

A dollar from every cupcake and cookie sold in the store yesterday was given to the SPCA to help fight animal cruelty.

Yesterday Ms Stodler also used ``Blue Tick'' eggs - a division of the SPCA which focused on farm animals, certifying eggs, chicken, turkey and pork products that had been farmed to its high animal welfare standards.

``We've used free-range eggs since we opened. We use ethical cocoa and as many ethical products as we can source - for us, it's never been a question.

``We're just happy to be a part of [Cupcake Day] again and hope we can help,'' she said.
