A man is in custody after allegedly threatening to burn down a Queenstown backpacker hostel this morning.
The manager of Flaming Kiwi Backpackers called police to say he had a "distressed man with a petrol can" threatening to burn down the Robins Rd hostel, Sergeant Chris Brooks said.
The manager did a good job of talking the man out of carrying out the threat, Sgt Brooks said.
