Two hurt in bike crash

Two people suffered injuries in a motorcycle crash near Queenstown yesterday morning, after two fatal crashes on the same road in the past month.

Police said the single-vehicle accident took place about 8.30am on State Highway 6, near Jacks Point. The motorcyclist and a passenger came off the bike after it hit a traffic cone.

An ambulance was at the scene before police arrived at 8.44am.

The rider had serious injuries and was taken to Lakes District Hospital in Queenstown, then flown to Dunedin Hospital by helicopter.

The passenger had minor to moderate leg injuries and was taken to Lakes District Hospital.
