On the brilliant autumn day, 17 teams played in the tournament which was held at the Timaru Town & Country Club.
There were six teams representing the club and all featured in the results, which was a very good achievement for such a small petanque club.
The Ashburton pairing of Bill Healey and Neville Bensdorp took out the major trophy, while Timaru players, Murray Carnegie and Melinda Dorn were the top contenders in the trophy consulate.
In the plate playoff, Timaru’s Joy McAlwee and Mavis Thompson were the winners, while Heather Bell and John Bell from Dunedin took out the bowl.
A very sociable day was had by all, with a large number staying on afterwards to enjoy the facilities and meals at the club.— Lesley Davis
