Christmas spirit returns with dinners for elderly

The annual festive treat for Clutha's elderly is on again next month.

Clutha Licensing Trust general manager David Kenny yesterday confirmed the trust's annual Senior Citizens Christmas dinners would be held from December 2 to 4 at Rosebank Lodge in Balclutha.

The dinners, which are in their 10th year, gave the district's older generation a chance to dine, be entertained and get into the Christmas spirit, he said.

The three dinners start at 11.30am, with members of service clubs, police and the Fire Service acting as waiters and waitresses.

Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go a charity yet to be confirmed.

Mr Kenny said Dunedin duo Forbidden Fruit would provide the entertainment on all three days.

He expected interest would be as high as previous years. Bookings would be accepted from November 20.
