A concert at the Tokomairiro Presbyterian Church this month will be the official start of a fundraising campaign the congregation hopes will create enough cash to restore the prominent landmark.
The Royal Dunedin Male Choir will perform in a "grand fundraising concert" to be staged at the church on Saturday.
Guest artists will also perform.
The concert is the first in what is expected to be a series of ongoing fundraising events as the parish raises money for a report on the extent of repair and maintenance work.
The money is needed to make urgent repairs to the landmark which has deteriorated in recent years.
It needs extensive repairs to both the interior and exterior.
The church, built in 1889, was designed by architect Robert Arthur Lawson, whose work included Dunedin's Municipal Chambers and First Church.
This month's concert starts at 7.30pm with adults paying $20 and children $10.
Tickets are available at the Milton Library and Milton Information Centre.
All proceeds will go towards the church restoration project.
