Clean-up of Catlins chilly work

Nearly 100 volunteers braved chilling weather on Sunday to help tidy up the Catlins as the region prepares for another busy summer season.

Tourism Catlins co-ordinated the annual clean-up.

Trustee Dianne Miller said the group encouraged the public to clean up roadside rubbish near their homes and called for volunteers to help clean up "high impact" areas.

Tourism Catlins holds its clean-up earlier than the official Keep NZ Beautiful Clean-up week early next month to allow more locals to be involved, before they become busy with lambing.
