A public farewell will be held for long-time Balclutha physiotherapist Dr Stephan Milosavljevic tomorrow night.

Dr Milosavljevic, who has lived and worked as a physiotherapist in Balclutha for the past 30 years, is leaving the town to become professor and director of the school of physiotherapy at the University of Saskatchewan, in Canada.

Balclutha woman Sheila Moore, one of the organisers of the farewell, said Dr Milosavljevic and his wife Marion were important members of the community and would be sorely missed.

Mrs Moore said Dr Milosavljevic had changed the lives of many in the Clutha district, and the evening was a chance for the community to thank him and his wife as well as to hear about his seven-year rural health research project.

Dr Milosavljevic is also an academic at the University of Otago, where he completed his masters and PhD studies.

The farewell for Dr and Mrs Milosavljevic will be held at the Balclutha War Memorial Hall at 7.30pm tomorrow. Tickets are available from Betta Electrical.

The $40 cost covers event expenses. The evening is being organised by the community.

A supper will be held afterwards.
