An international speaker, who has represented her home country on the European Community in the areas of arts and disability will speak in Balclutha next month.
Hilary McDowell, who has been disabled since birth, is a Belfast-based dramatist, journalist, performance poet, evangelist and psychologist and travels the world speaking about a variety of subjects including her own life.
Ms McDowell has had seven disabilities from birth, and her parents were told she would never and probably never speak.
She is involved in running a workshop for the prevention of suicide among young people.
She will speak at a women's lunch meeting on August 21 before addressing a public meeting that night at St Andrew's Church at 7.30pm.
