Lily Tuckey (8, left) and Isha Ratte (7) jump for joy at the chance to appear in a United States feature film.
They, and other pupils at Tapanui School, could not be more excited about today's casting call for extras for the remake of the feature film Pete's Dragon - the tale of an orphan boy and his pet dragon.
Lily could well have an advantage because she already has some acting experience - she played a skunk in Tapanui School's production of Robin Hood.
''Everyone wants to do it,'' she said of the casting call.
When Lily's class was asked at school yesterday who wanted to be in the movie, a lot of children put their hands up, she said.
''Everyone's talking about it, everyone's talking about the shops being painted and the roads being closed and stuff.''
Filming is expected to begin next April.
Casting calls - for male and female roles in ''a wide range of ages and ethnicities'' - will be held at the West Otago Community Centre in Tapanui and the Gore District Council Chambers in Gore today until 4pm.
