Excellence in workplace training was celebrated at the Clutha District Training and Development Awards Dinner, at Te Pou Ō Mata-Au, Clutha District War Memorial & Community Centre in Balclutha on Wednesday, November 13.

The event celebrated individuals who achieved significant milestones in their training journeys such as trade certifications, diplomas and tertiary qualifications over the past year.

Also recognised were businesses championing workplace development by supporting employees to upskill and certify new competencies

Thirty-eight award recipients across 14 training organisations and 16 district businesses represented a wide range of industries and training experience ranging from Levels 2, 3, 4 New Zealand Certificates, up to Advanced Clinical Certificates.

Guest speakers at the Clutha Development (CD) organised dinner-evening included Lawrence Chief Fire Officer Tim Dickey, and "West Otago Supermum," international enduro-motorcyclist and agribusiness owner Kylie Dorr.

"Their insights highlighted the vital role of training, development, volunteerism and dedication in building a skilled and vibrant community," CD business partnership manager Sarita Love said.

"It was truly inspiring to see so many individuals and businesses recognised for their hard work and commitment to growth. Their achievements are a testament to the strength and future potential of the Clutha District."

She said the awards underscored the importance of a culture of learning and development in the workplace by showcasing the benefits for individuals and the wider community.
