Local government survey

The Clutha District Council is asking residents to participate in its Local Government Amalgamation Survey.

Mayor Jock Martin said he wanted people to engage "every step of the way", after central government’s recently announced requirement to simplify local government.

“Our own survey will try to ensure we capture as many points of view as possible ... The deadline the government has given of three months means we have to move quickly to begin talks,’’ Mr Martin said.

Open until 5pm on Tuesday (June 30), the survey can be found at www.cluthadc.govt.nz/amalgamation. Hard copies are available at the council’s Balclutha offices, and from iSites and libraries.
