Agricultural show to mark 160th

South Otago A&P Society will celebrate its 160th anniversary on November 28 by hosting a major regional agricultural showcase.

The society has been selected to host the Royal Agricultural Society’s Southern Districts Premier Show this year.

To reflect the milestone, organisers have chosen the theme "honouring the past — looking to the future".

The theme runs through this year’s home industries and photography schedule, available to download at Showday Online, and open to entries from early September until
November 23.

New classes include traditional crafts such as knitted tea cosies, tatting and bobbin lace, sepia photography, children’s classes and the inaugural "transformation" class, inspired by reality TV sewing contests.

This latter, cash-prize competition is limited to 10 entries by early July, who will receive identical pre-loved fabric to create a practical, wearable garment by October 30, for judging and display at the show.
