Constable Regan Mauheni, of Dunedin, and general purpose police dog-in-training Vann meet Clutha Valley Primary School pupils yesterday.

Const Mauheni and Const Tim Roy, of Dunedin, travelled to South Otago yesterday for some training with the 16-week-old pup and older police dog Brock.

The pair and their dogs visited two primary schools, Stirling and Clutha Valley, to answer questions from pupils and educate them about the roles of general purpose police dogs and their handlers.

Const Mauheni said it was an opportunity for Vann to become socialised.

It was also a homecoming for Const Roy, who attended Clutha Valley Primary School in his youth.

Const Roy said a lot had changed at the school since he left and it was ''cool'' to come back.
