Two new Lawrence-Tuapeka Community Board members have been elected in a by-election.

Tim Dickey, of Waitahuna (373 votes), and Suzanne Stephenson, of Lawrence (239), were elected following a 54.5% postal vote turnout.

The Clutha District Council-controlled board was left short of a quorum during October’s local body elections after insufficient nominations were received, and former member Mel Foster was elected ward councillor.

Mrs Foster said it would be ‘‘fantastic’’ to see new faces at the board table.

‘‘The district has voted positively for change ahead of community plan consultation.

‘‘We welcome Tim and Suzanne, and wish them every success.’’
