Fulton Hogan staff guide what they believe to be the largest transportable house in New Zealand through roadworks on Clutha Valley Rd between Balclutha and Clydevale yesterday.
The 218sq m house was on its way to Waimumu, southwest of Gore, via Clydevale because the Balclutha bridge was not wide enough to permit taking that route.
The move struck unexpected roadworks on Clutha Valley Rd where work on a cattle underpass had began yesterday morning, 11km from Clydevale.
Big River Homes managing director Mark van Asperen said the road between Balclutha and Clydevale had been the most difficult part of the journey, even without the roadworks. The four-bedroom house was due to arrive in Waimumu about noon today.
