A rather patchy high summer was celebrated with hosts of blooms last Friday as botany, growing, cooking, arts and crafts met at the 53rd Clutha Valley Flower Show.
The event itself is not perfectly perennial, with records showing the 10th show was in 1926, but 51 entries from all ages in 10 sections filled the valley’s community hall with exhibits from fine dahlias to photography and a sunflower at least 3m tall.
